Hi, all.

I've been too busy at work to be online much lately, but now I have today, Saturday, and Monday off (work Sunday afternoon). There hasn't been much to post about; nothing much is going on in my life besides work and even though I'm still watching and enjoying SV, it isn't very easy to follow and I'm not invested enough in the characters and in what's going on to meta-post about it. Any future meta will probably be re: S1-8. We'll see!

I'm having a great time with my new kitten, whom I've decided to name "Perry." "Lionel" just didn't seem to fit him. Perry is still a SV name, and will suit him both as a kitten and as an adult cat.

He's so cute! very feisty, and the other cats are getting used to him. It was an adjustment for Phoenix, as he's been the baby for the past 6 years and has never had a new cat come into the family since he's been here.

Last Sunday I took Perry into the back yard to visit Moe's grave, and told him he has a pretty tough act to follow:)

I'm trying to get into a Clexy mood so I can do some writing! anyone have tips?

When Brandon was here with Marian for Thanksgiving, he FIXED MY COMPUTER!! Now, it's running like a dream and all outfitted with McAfee, and I'm back in business!

As I watched "Stiletto" last night (is that spelled correctly?) I had a revelation:

If you excerpt the Lana plot and forget the previous seven seasons, SV S8 is a pretty good show!

Wow, I entirely forgot that tonight is SV night until about 7 minutes ago! True, it was a busy day, but I remember when I'd spend the entire pre-ep day in excited anticipation. Now, I enjoy the eps, but it's just not the same. Today, I didn't think of SV once until 7 minutes ago.

I don't even know the title of tonight's ep.

Well, here we are: at the closing episode of S1!

This episode gives us three Clex scenes:

After Lionel closes the Luthorcorp plant (bastard! that was one of the worst things he ever did to Lex (and it's up against some pretty stiff competition)--closing the plant and leaving Lex behind to deal with the fallout) Image Heavy )

I was going back through the Clex Forever posts because [personal profile] isagel asked me an interesting question, and, bam! when I got to "Hothead," my pix were all gone, with a bunch of little print icons saying that that account had been inactive for 90 days! Of course I logged right back in, but I guess I'm going to have to make a point of revisiting all my past Photobucket accounts (I've had at least a dozen!) regularly in order to ensure that the pix remain visible! Which sorta sucks, although it's better than when Hotmail blitzed my entire account (about eight years of fandom correspondence, fic feedback, etc.) because I hadn't logged on for a month!

I suppose I'd better start a private entry at the beginning of my journal with a list of all my account names so I can log in regularly. Thank God at least I always use the same password!

Has PB always been this way, or is this something new?

Please don't hesitate to give me a heads up if you notice any accounts in need of reactivation! Thanks!

Wow, we're closing in on the end of Season 1 in these Clex Forever posts! Just for a recap, Clex Forever is and will be caps from every Clex scene in every episode. Most are with the guys together, but some are other scenes in which other characters acknowledge the Clex in some way.

The guys have three scenes together in "Obscura". The first is at the farm.Image Heavy )

Since several people have left me comments on "Crossroads" lately, either having read the entire 33 chapters (so far) in a sitting or asking me to finish it so they can read the entire thing (for which I don't blame them--I rarely read WIPS because I find it so frustrating to get sucked into a story and then have it abandoned--I'm STILL waiting for a couple of SV fics to be finished that likely never will be. So I'm truly touched at the number of people that have been reading mine since spring 2006, and promise NEVER to abandon it no matter HOW long it takes me)) I'm working on it tonight. I can have Leah's computer until she & Zach get home from dinner, and maybe then I could write on her laptop in my room if I get myself on a roll.

Tomorrow I have an appointment for a perm at a trendy salon here in town. With an exuberant (clearly gay) guy named Omar.

I'm usually a Great Clips, el cheapo when it comes to my hair, so this is a big event, one I've been meaning to treat myself to for several years. I haven't had a perm in over 10 years, and it won't be one of those frizzy 80s perms this time, but a looser, spiral-type. My hair is a little more than shoulder-length right now, so it's time.

This perm will likely be over $100--again, it's a rare treat--I usually just get layered cuts and let that be it. I had to look up what an appropriate tip is for a stylist for a service that's that expensive. Generally 15-20%, it looks like.

I have some qualms about the extravagance, but I have so much trouble with my hair. I'm not handy with fixing it, so I usually like something I can just wash, brush and/or iron, and go. My hair is wavy and it's almost impossible to keep it from flipping, which I hate. So, we'll see how this goes. If I really love it, I may get it done once a year. If not, this'll be a one-time thing.

Well, "Crossroads" just isn't working with me today. I'm having trouble with the action, and with Lana's characterization--I don't really want her to go out a hero (we had that on the show, for Pete's sake!) but making her dark and villainous doesn't seem right, either, because she's already begun to be "redeemed" from that. On top of that, I have to produce "action" at this point, and I suck at that. And even the few sentences I'm coming up with sound dumb.

I'm moving in on the conclusion of another fic I've been working on for about a year and a half. Mostly just need to move stuff around toward the end and flesh out a bit. Not feeling that either, yet, this aft. It's been kind of a downer day, because I really had hoped to go on a trip and I'm disappointed it didn't happen.

So, maybe the next Clex pic post? "Crush"! I'm especially ready for it after slogging through the S8 Clana arc.

I thought I was doing okay. "Bulletproof": check. "Power": check. I was bookin' right along. I'd vowed to slug through this trio of FAIL that is the S8 Lana/Clana arc, one more time and survive!

To me, Kandor will always be that cute little city in a bottle that Superman kept in the Fortress of Solitude, and which he could visit by shrinking himself down with a shrink-ray.Read more... )

Robert Thompson of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University, [regarding the Colorado balloon-boy incident] said that the incident "was a wake-up call to the media but it's a wake-up call that every single one of us is going to sleep through." Thompson blamed technology rather than the media for the problem.

We were so prepared, but it was kind of a downer Hallowe'en. We only had about 10 kids trick or treat, though we had tons of candy at the ready. I cooked all afternoon, but the Pumpkin Risotto sucked (the cheese soup was good) but, as so often happens, I was too tired to be hungry when it was all ready.

Marian was so looking forward to being a Lawn Gnome this year, but the poor baby was so sick she couldn't eat a thing and just went home to bed instead of out partying as she'd planned.Image Heavy: kid pix )

Very disappointing--we only had about 10 trick or treaters tonight.

Mr. Price was one of my very first celebrity crushes. When I was 10-11 and into my teens, I devoured American International Poe films (most of which were quite different from the stories and poems on which they were based) and fell irrevocably in love and admiration that burns brightly to this day. Vincent Price could be in the lamest, silliest, B to end all B movies, and elevate them from mediocrity to something wonderful. When I was a kid, I remember thinking he was ACTUALLY Edgar Allan Poe, and was surprised to realize he was but an actor. But what an actor!

No one could possibly read "The Tell-Tale Heart" better:

Happy Halloween!

Wow, things have really changed in SV fandom. Last night, I made a short reaction post for "Crossfire"--not substantial, just a quick spot reaction. So it didn't surprise me that I woke to zero comments, but what DID surprise me is that I noticed this a.m. that I forgot to spoiler-cut-tag the post!

Time was when I would realize when I clicked "send" that I hadn't included cut-tags, and by the time I reentered the entry to make the correction, I'd have two-three comments admonishing me to: "Please use cut-tags so the rest of us won't be spoiled!" I remember thinking on more than one occasion: "Geez, give me 30 seconds to correct it, at least!"

Now it's 12 hours later, and no one's taken me to task! What's up with that?

Though I didn't even know the title of tonight's ep before it aired, I really it. Last week, when it was the Oliver Queen show, I was bored to death. But I liked what they did with all the characters tonight, from Zod to Mr. Campbell. I was actually interested in what was happening. Although Ollie's still carrying a torch for Lois seemed to come largely out of the blue. I'm relieved they didn't spend eps with Clark agonizing over the Clollie still being an item, etc.

I loved the Clois plot--I'd like to see more eps like this where they have the characters try something new and have fun with it.

If I can't have my Clex--and I know I can't--the Clois is fine by me. The kiss--magnifique! and I'm so glad Clark was the one to initiate it. I like the switch from Lois mooning for Clark in private to the affection/attraction being largely mutual.

That bullet had Ollie's name on it, and no mistake.
