Clex Forever! "Obscura"

Wow, we're closing in on the end of Season 1 in these Clex Forever posts! Just for a recap, Clex Forever is and will be caps from every Clex scene in every episode. Most are with the guys together, but some are other scenes in which other characters acknowledge the Clex in some way.
The guys have three scenes together in "Obscura". The first is at the farm.

I really like this cap.

It's morning, and Clark's running off to school just as Lex arrives. Darn.

Lex has come with the settlement check for the chemical spill.

"I hope we're not getting special treatment because of your friendship with Clark," says Jonathan.

Lex swears the sum is no more than the actual value of the cows and the land.

Lex so badly wants his BF's father to accept him.

The next scene is in the field where Clark's ship landed.

Jonathan gets bent out of shape because this is the field where Clark's ship landed. He's afraid of what Lex may discover and is incredibly rude to Lex because of it

Jonathan decides that, because Lex is investigating in this field, he can't accept his money. Can we say non sequitur?

"Mr. Kent, I don't understand."

"No, I wouldn't expect you would."

I feel so badly for Lex here. He clearly only wants to make good on the Kents' loss (which he wasn't responsible for to begin with) and Jonathan, as is his wont, treats him like crap.

Clark tries to ameliorate, but Lex cuts him off:

"I'll see you later, Clark."

When Clark runs after his dad and says: "Lex didn't deserve that," Jonathan tells him that this is the field where his ship went down, as though that makes his treatment of Lex okay.

Later, Lex stops by the barn. Note Clark's smile!

and says: "I feel like I owe your father an apology, but I'm not sure why."! I'm sure Jonathan always made him feel as though he owed an apology--well, just for being YOU, Lex!
These pix didn't save in order, so I'm not sure if they follow one another correctly.

Clark says: "It's not you--the farm, money problems..."

And I'm sure Lex felt like saying in reply: "Well, if your father has money problems, why did he give me that check back?"

Clark queries whether Lex can't just "let it [the investigation] go."

Then Lex tells him that the scientist he's working with thinks a ship came down in the field with the meteors.

Clark is afraid, too, so he tries to deflect Lex's curiosity by laughing it off. "And you BELIEVED him?"

Lex finishes by telling him that long-vanished stars' light can still influence us.

These scenes are intriguing for various reasons. One, a lot of people would've just said: "Screw them, anyway," after Jonathan's behavior in the field, but Lex still comes by to pay a friendly call on Clark. Two, both Jonathan and Clark (picking up, as usual, on his father's unease) are worried about what Lex's curiosity may lead to, and both treat him poorly in their own unique ways: Jonathan by extreme rudeness and condescension, and Clark with mild scorn when he sees Lex is getting a little too close to the truth.
