Second day of vacation

Since several people have left me comments on "Crossroads" lately, either having read the entire 33 chapters (so far) in a sitting or asking me to finish it so they can read the entire thing (for which I don't blame them--I rarely read WIPS because I find it so frustrating to get sucked into a story and then have it abandoned--I'm STILL waiting for a couple of SV fics to be finished that likely never will be. So I'm truly touched at the number of people that have been reading mine since spring 2006, and promise NEVER to abandon it no matter HOW long it takes me)) I'm working on it tonight. I can have Leah's computer until she & Zach get home from dinner, and maybe then I could write on her laptop in my room if I get myself on a roll.
Tomorrow I have an appointment for a perm at a trendy salon here in town. With an exuberant (clearly gay) guy named Omar.
I'm usually a Great Clips, el cheapo when it comes to my hair, so this is a big event, one I've been meaning to treat myself to for several years. I haven't had a perm in over 10 years, and it won't be one of those frizzy 80s perms this time, but a looser, spiral-type. My hair is a little more than shoulder-length right now, so it's time.
This perm will likely be over $100--again, it's a rare treat--I usually just get layered cuts and let that be it. I had to look up what an appropriate tip is for a stylist for a service that's that expensive. Generally 15-20%, it looks like.
I have some qualms about the extravagance, but I have so much trouble with my hair. I'm not handy with fixing it, so I usually like something I can just wash, brush and/or iron, and go. My hair is wavy and it's almost impossible to keep it from flipping, which I hate. So, we'll see how this goes. If I really love it, I may get it done once a year. If not, this'll be a one-time thing.
